Department of Economics

The Department of Economics was started in 1967 along with the establishment of the college. Late Dulal Baruah was the founder teacher and Head of the Department. Mrs. Purabi Chetia joined as faculty in 1973. Major classes were started with effect from 1982–83. At present the department has three permanent faculty positions and is headed by Dr. Dipamoni Borthakur.

The department offers both Major and General courses at the undergraduate level. Teachers are committed to providing a foundation through advanced understanding of Economics. Since inception, the department has produced eminent persons who have contributed positively to society in various capacities.
